What is CAPS? CAPS stands for Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. CAPS is a partnership between police and community that is the foundation of community policing. CAPS uses Beats to develop relationships between the community and the police.
CAPS meetings offer city residents an opportunity to address crime and safety issues directly with the beat officers who patrol their neighborhood, as well as to provide ongoing feedback, which help the police to monitor crime issues. The beat meeting is a chance to meet your neighbors and come up with strategies that affect the community.

Join the 18th District Court Advocacy Program!
|
|
This program consist of individuals who want to support their community by following cases/arrests made within their districts.
The Court Advocates can select the cases that are of interest to them and the cases they want to show their presence for. By attending these court cases, the Advocates are showing their support for the victims and the community in which the crime occurred. That presence makes a statement that they are standing up for their community and that they don't want this activity in their neighborhood. The judge sees this type of support from citizens and the hope is that they will take the cases and sentencing methods more serious.
The group meets at the 018th District station (Zoom now), every other month to discuss both New and Old cases. CPD provides the group with information regarding the case, where it happened, what happened, and when/where the court case will be held for the offender in custody.
Interested in Joining:
3) CPD will perform a name check to make sure you don't have any warrants which make you ineligible to join.
3) After the name check is performed successfully, you will receive an email from Officer Robinson notifying you of your acceptance or rejection into the group.
4) If accepted you will receive a one hour training class for what to expect when you attend court cases and will be provided with an ID Badge which shows that you are a Court Advocate.
Any additional questions, please reach out to Officer Robinson at the above email address.

Keep Your Sidewalk Clear Of Snow
This winter, please help to do your part to keep our walkways safe for everyone - especially for people with disabilities, seniors, and children - by shoveling your sidewalk.
Per Chicago Municipal Code (4-4-310 & 10-8-180), property owners, property occupants, and business owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice. If you are renting a unit or property, check your lease to see whether you or your landlord is responsible for shoveling snow.
Sidewalks are required to be clear seven days per week, and residents must clear at least a five foot wide path:
• Snow that falls between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm must be removed by 10:00 pm.
• Snow that falls between the hours of 7:00 pm and 7:00 am must be removed by 10:00 am.

Northwestern Medicine Vaccination Updates
|
|
Vaccination is key to ending the COVID-19 pandemic. Northwestern Medicine has developed a COVID-19 vaccination plan following public health guidelines, which continue to evolve.
Northwestern Medicine is now sending invitations to eligible patients to schedule vaccines. Invitations are being sent in phases to ensure they can accommodate all patients in a timely and efficient manner. At this time, they are focused on vaccinating established Northwestern Medicine patients who are 65 and older. A patient is considered established if they have a Northwestern Medicine primary care physician or regularly see a Northwestern Medicine specialist.
Only Northwestern Medicine hospitals will administer vaccines. Physician offices are not able to administer vaccines at this time.
You will be notified thru the MyNM account site when you are eligible for your vaccination. For additional information please CLICK HERE.

Please be advised that, as of January 31, Chicago has met the metrics set by the State of Illinois to move to Phase Four COVID-19 regulations. In order to avoid reversing the progress that the city has made in recent weeks, a number of regulations will remain in place in Chicago under Phase Four.
Some restrictions will be eased, such as the prohibition of bar seating and the non-essential business curfew, but most of the capacity regulations will remain in place. CLICK HERE for an overview of Phase Four regulations in Chicago.

At this time, there is no centralized City of Chicago registration system for making an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine. There are three ways Chicago residents can make an appoint to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. To make an appointment for a vaccine, you may try to use the following resources:
1) Your Healthcare Provider: Your first contact should be your health care provider, including your primary care provider, health clinic, or hospital where you have gotten medical care in the past.
- Over 350 health care providers have signed up with CDPH to distribute vaccine. Providers are also reaching out directly to schedule appointments with their existing patients, prioritizing those who are older with more underlying conditions.
-
If you do not have insurance, one option is to enroll with one of Chicago’s many Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Download the FQHC flyers in English and Spanish.
-
Health care providers can still sign-up to be vaccine providers.
2) Your Pharmacy: The City of Chicago has provided vaccines to pharmacies across Chicago. These pharmacies each have their own registration link which can be found below.
- CDPH is working directly with employers as vaccine becomes available; for example, first responders are already being vaccinated and others will begin soon.
- If you will receive your vaccine through your employer, you do not need to take any other action.
For more information on Chicago's vaccine rollout plan, facts about the currently available vaccines, and more, visit Chicago's vaccine rollout website.

Zocdoc will aggregate real-time appointment availability from select Chicago POD (Point of Dispensing) sites, as well as from leading local care organizations such as AMITA Health, Erie Family Health, Innovative Express Care and Rush University Medical Center, creating a central marketplace to help Chicagoans access vaccinations.
Chicago is the first city to implement Zocdoc Vaccine Scheduler, a new service that any care organization or government entity can use - free of charge - to streamline vaccine scheduling. Chicagoans can visit zocdoc.com/vaccine, where they’ll confirm their location and eligibility.
If eligible under Illinois guidelines, Zocdoc will show nearby vaccination locations and their real-time appointment availability. Eligible patients will then be able to select a date, time, and location, and instantly book an appointment online. Importantly, this service will offer embedded translation support for more than 100 languages, including Spanish. It also has a variety of accessibility tools that users can enable if they need additional support or modifications.
Although the supply of vaccines is currently very limited, appointments will be added on an ongoing basis as more vaccines are allocated to providers. Additionally, the City and Zocdoc expect more local healthcare providers - including other hospital systems and Federally Qualified Health Centers - to join in this important effort. To this end, the Illinois Health and Hospital Association is encouraging its members to participate.
CDPH notes that Chicagoans are encouraged to seek a vaccine appointment first with their primary care providers, if they have one, and also through local pharmacies or their employers, if available. The Zocdoc Vaccine Scheduler will serve as a free, public resource for Chicagoans who otherwise might have difficulty finding and accessing a vaccine.
Chicago continues to vaccinate individuals in phase 1a of the vaccine rollout – healthcare workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities – and recently moved into the early stages of 1b. This means Chicagoans age 65+ and specific groups of highest-risk and front-line essential workers are now eligible for vaccinations.
Even when eligible, it may take weeks to get an appointment due to the very limited vaccine supply the City is receiving from the federal government at this time. Phase 1b is expected to last through at least February and March. The vaccine is offered at no cost to all Chicagoans who want it, but patience is needed while vaccine quantities increase.
