Career and technical education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE programs offer students
a sequence of courses to provide technical knowledge and skills in many professional fields including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and many more. Students gain training, industry-based certification and work-based learning opportunities that allow a smooth transition into the workforce and post-secondary education.
The ESC Region 19 CTE program provides CTE certification,
professional development training,
resources, and other services to support educators in their role of preparing students for employment and future education. The CTE team works with business and industry leaders to create opportunities for both students and educators to participate in internships, externships, job shadowing, workplace tours, field trips, class presentations and career fairs.
The team also obtains grants to create programs and scholarships to benefit students, such as Texas Gear Up and the
Region 19, Head Start, and Wells Fargo Scholarship Program.
