A Well of Generosity

Larry Bingaman, president and chief executive officer of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) and his wife, are longtime contributors to Southern’s business school. Bingaman recently pledged $150,000 to the SCSU Foundation to support the School of Business Experiential Education Fund.

A Heart of Gold

In February 2021, The Amour Propre Fund led by Lindy Lee Gold, donated half a million dollars to establish the School of Business Endowment for Leadership Development.

ο»Ώ

Though Gold is not a Southern alumna, a commitment to the university comes naturally for the New Haven native who grew up on Ellsworth Avenue around the corner from campus. β€œIf you care about New Haven and the region, you have to care about Southern,” she says. β€œI consider it an enlightened self-interest.”

The Empowering Couple

Tony and Beth Verlezza are committed to sharing opportunity with others. Their gift for the MBA program is one in a long history of support.

Other donations furthered initiatives near and dear to Tony’s heart, among them, the Football Alumni Network Scholarship and other athletics funds. He also established the Anthony Verlezza Endowed Scholarship Fund in the early 1990s, for undergraduate business majors who are members of the football team.

A Note from SCSU’s Business Librarian

Welcome back! Spring semester is already in full swing over here at Buley Library; here are a few updates:

Wall Street Journal

The library now subscribes to the WSJ directly (no need to navigate through clunky secondary databases anymore). If you have not yet set up an account with the WSJ, visit WSJ.com/SouthernCT and sign up using your SCSU email address. If you already have a WSJ paid account and would like to convert it to your school-sponsored WSJ subscription, call 1-800-JOURNAL to cancel.

New York Times

Reminder! We have an institutional subscription to the NYT as well. You can find instructions on setting up your free SCSU account on the library’s A-Z database list.

Once you’ve set up your accounts, you can now use the NYT and WSJ apps on your phone or tablet.

Family Friendly Study Room

The Family Friendly Study Room, Buley Library 120, is now fully furnished with a new table and chairs for adults, a kid-sized table and chairs, bookshelf, books, toys, and more for a wide range of ages. We created this space to welcome and support student parents.
