Meet some of KHS' Eligible Pets

Ready for Love?

Have you been looking for that perfect hiking companion? Are you missing cuddles and kisses during Sunday Netflix marathons on your couch? Are you ready for love? There is no excuse to be lonely this Valentine's Day--there is plenty of love waiting for you at KHS where we can help you find your perfect match!

On Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14, come to KHS for the Ready for Love adoption event from noon to 4:30 p.m. There will be animals available for adoption of all different ages, sizes and breeds--come meet your next sweetheart! Staff and volunteer adoption counselors will be on hand to help visitors find the right match for their home and lifestyle.

To help you find your furry Valentine, we will be offering the following discounted adoption fees:

- Pick your own adoption price for adult cats
- 1/2 off dogs that have been in the shelter for more than 14 days

They say you can't buy love, but you can adopt it! Check out a few of of our eligible bachelors and bachelorettes you might meet at our event. If you think one of them might be your furry soul-mate click the heart to find out more about your potential partner!
Bruce
2 Years Old
Hey there, I'm Bruce. My friends say I have a chipper spirit and I don't mean to brag, but I am a loyal guy and consider myself quite the gentleman. My hobbies include: going for walks, cuddling, and playing fetch.  I am proud to say I am house broken. Come say hello and maybe we will hit it off.
Grace
9 Years Old
I am looking for someone to love and be loved by. Family who will be patient and understanding because I am shy at first, but once I trust you, I love to purr and have my chin rubbed. I love people and I have been told I have beautiful blue eyes--I guess that is pretty special!
Shadow
2 Years Old
Don't get too caught up on my handsome features. There is so much more to me than a good looking face.  I am an energetic dog and very intelligent. I love being given a job (herding, obedience, flyball, tracking or protection work). I am good on a leash, very loyal and extra attentive. I would love to devote all my attention to you.

KHS Lends a Hand to Low-Income Pet Owners
Kitsap Humane Society staff and volunteers joined about 40 other organizations to help the community’s homeless population this week at Project Connect in Bremerton. The annual event connects homeless people (or very low-income) with much-needed services. KHS handed out more than 1,000 pounds of free pet food and provided free Rabies vaccines to more than 30 pets.
FORE! The Animals Golf Tournament
Mark your calendars, KHS's annual golf tournament, Fore! The Animals is on May 20th at Trophy Lake Golf Course in Port Orchard. We welcome novice players, pros and even dogs on the course—this is a fun and unique tournament and all are welcomed to help us raise the crucial funds needed to save animals’ lives here at KHS.

Not a golfer? Help us spread the word—please send information on our tournament to your friends and family who love to golf-we would love to see new faces on the fairway on May 20th! Registration opens March 1st.

Development Spotlight
Another way to make a gift and help build a stronger KHS
Miracles happen every day here at the shelter. In 2015, support from generous supporters  like YOU  helped us save over 5,500 animals' lives. Yet the need in our community remains great. There are still thousands of vulnerable animals whose lives are at risk and are in desperate need of help. The critical life saving work carries on everyday here at KHS and  we need your help to sustain it .

Please consider starting the year off on the right PAW and make a gift today! Help us make 2016 a year of hope and a second chance at life for every dog, cat and other vulnerable animals that come through our doors.

Adorable Adoptable
Tikki
Hi, my name is Tikki (Intake #12444) and  I am a handsome and friendly male pit bull mix who was dearly loved by my previous owner, but unfortunately had to be surrendered when she found out her son was very allergic to me. I have had a rough time at the shelter as I am grieving for my previous home, but I hope to be adopted soon so I can live out my golden years with a new family who will love me just as much as my previous one. Unsurprisingly I have some separation anxiety and will probably whine and whimper in my new home until I am comfortable, but as long as you are committed to giving me a loving home I will reward you with tons of affection and a personality that can't be beat. Am I the dog you have been looking for? You can meet me and other adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, open six days a week. www.kitsap-humane.org
