Inspired by Dave Chin and the ONASJ Team celebrating Northborough Kindness Week with a Free Chili Cook-off Event here at Trinity this month, I've chosen to do a "groovy" sermon series on the theme of kindness.
There will be sermons this month on--
- "Choosing Kindness (Be the Kindness You Want to See)"
- "Greasin' the Wheels of Life"
- "Kindness and Creating Community"
- "The Limits of Kindness"
Please join us (and invite your family and friends too!) this February for a wonderful time of worship, togetherness, and community building as we choose kindness as a way of life!
Blessings,
Will

Hello Trinity Church Community!
This new year is off to a strong start! Music ensembles are back in full swing of rehearsals and presenting wonderful Specials for our services, our Annual Meeting was filled with positive information about growth and vitality in our church, and each week, the sanctuary is filled with people of all walks of life coming together to share the Love of God. Speaking of God’s Love, I am very excited to see what planning comes from “Choosing Kindness” as our worship theme through the month of February.
Below are important music selections for this month:
-
Song of the Month: “To Be Loved This Way” by Bryan Sirchio - Listen HERE
-
Sung Benediction: “I Am Welcome (Chorus)” by Bryan Sirchio - Listen HERE
- February 2nd - Special Music provided by Adult Voice Choir for the Prelude, as well as hymns on the theme of Kindness and Acceptance for All.
- February 9th - Service music provided by the Worship Band, as well as a very upbeat and fun song for the Special Music.
- Faith Formation Music & Movement time with Mr. Scott after the service. I heard there might be Handbells for kids this month!! 🙂
- February 16th - Special Music provided by Hand Bell Choir
- February 23rd - Special Music provided by the Adult Voice Choir
I hope all of you are planning to attend the Chili Cook-off on February 15th in honor of Kindness Week in Northborough. I know it’s going to be a great family event. I want to encourage you to not be late for the start, so you don’t miss the Adult Choir and Worship Band performing for the attending crowd. Each group will be sharing a song about Kindness that they are learning this Season.
One of Trinity’s values that speaks to me the most is our commitment to sharing God’s Love with the world. February is often the month most associated with love, so let us continue to share the Love of God with those we meet each day and throughout our lives.
Until We Meet Again
Find God in the Music,
Scott Arnold (He/Him)

Update on our Northboro Refugee Projects
In 2021, Trinity’s Outreach Team made a commitment to financially support a refugee family. In 2022, we welcomed Rose and 9-yr-old Mark, from Afghanistan, to Northboro. They are doing well, and there are several new developments we would like to share with you.
Their application for asylum was approved last spring, and they submitted applications for a Green Card in December. The ultimate goal is US citizenship – a few years down the road.
After being on the waiting list for almost a year, last month Rose was selected for a Chapter 40B affordable apartment at Avalon (the apartment complex by Wegmans). Last week they moved into a two-bedroom apartment, and are very happy in their new place. Although it is deemed "affordable" by the state, it is still a lot of money, and Trinity’s Outreach Team with the help of Northboro’s Neighborhood Support Team are subsidizing their rent.
Rose works as a teacher’s aide at Algonquin. This fall Rose completed the requirements for a Dental Assistant license, and has been working a second job at a dentist office, AND taking courses at Quinsigamond Community College – a very busy woman!
Here are some updates on Mark:
- 3rd grader at Peaslee School
- Plays youth basketball and soccer
- Taking ski lessons at Ski Ward
- Avid collector of basketball and football trading cards
- Detroit Lions fan
Besides financial support, Trinity provides emotional support to Rose and Mark. Members of Trinity and the community support team have become their extended family. One of our team members spends every Wednesday evening with them. Mark comes over to another team member’s house on Sundays to watch football. Rose has said “More than anything I appreciate having all of you to talk to.” We have been blessed to have this relationship with them. Both Rose and Mark are incredibly brave and hard working. They’ve been an inspiration to us, and we know they will be successful as they make Northboro their new home.
We always appreciate donations, and would like to thank the Northboro Rotary Club for their recent donation. We are also planning a fundraiser at Trinity in March (more info to follow). In the meantime, if you would like to make a contribution, we are taking donations through Trinity’s website or at this link: Click Here:
In other news, the team has been helping other resettled immigrants in Northboro. We have served meals and collected clothes for Haitian refugees.
There is one family in particular that we are currently helping. Michael and his mom came to Northboro from Haiti two years ago. Michael graduated from Algonquin last June and started classes at Quinsigamond Community College this fall.
Unfortunately, there is no public transportation from Northboro, and Michael has no car. Our team has been recruiting volunteers to give him rides back and forth to class. If you would like to help with rides, we have a sign-up genius: Click Here
The Outreach Team would like to thank you for all of your support and for helping Trinity make a difference to refugee families in Northboro.

ONASJ Update
There are many forms of Social Justice. In an effort to be more accessible and inclusive the ONASJ team requested the Property team install a doorbell at the Hudson Street entrance.
Thank you Property Team for installing it! Although it is wheelchair accessible it is not automatic and can be a difficult door to manage. The ringer is in the coat room area so if you hear it, please check the Hudson St entrance!
Also, we now have our accessibility information on our website. Thank you, Rita! “Wheelchair entrance on Hudson St. and Chair lift to 2nd floor Sanctuary.” This will also be included in future publications. We have learned that people will tend to assume a place is not accessible if it is not stated.
There are many ways to be accessible. We have large print Bibles, hearing devices and our welcoming attitudes!

The excitement is building for our Kindness Event: Chili Cook Off for the community on Saturday, February 15 at 5:30PM.
We will be showing kindness to the community by feeding people, singing to people (Praise Band & Adult Chorus) and by our warm welcome! You can help by volunteering (see me).
You can also help by using our flyer to talk up this special, fun event and invite people! This is one way you can share God's light into the world!
We will be inviting the Northborough Community to our Chili Cook-off on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 5:30 PM. This promises to be a “most” fun event with the crowning of a queen and a king of chili. There will also be music in the air! So, save the date!
Everyone in the Trinity Congregation is encouraged to participate and enjoy the various chilis. How can you help? Make some chili to share. Make mac and cheese for the kids.
Invite people and families from the community to this free event where they may relax and enjoy. Help with set-up or clean-up.
Dave Chin, ONA/Social Justice Team

Our February meeting will be on February 15 at 8:30 AM.
That entire week (2/10-2/15) is “Kindness Week” in Northborough. I want to follow that theme and talk about kindness, what it is, how it affects people, and times or places we’ve seen kindness.
To get started, I’m including a link to the Wikipedia article about kindness
Click Here. I’ll send out a couple of other links to article about
kindness in a couple of weeks to the people who are on my mail list.
Let’s gather for breakfast, fellowship and talk about kindness.
For more information or to add yourself to the Saturday Breakfast Fellowship email list, please contact Tom at tomdan4@gmail.com

"Children's Church" is scheduled for Sunday, February 9th.
The children who want to participate will leave the sanctuary with Faith Formations leaders during this time. The children's classroom is located on the 2nd floor, just outside of the sanctuary. The children will participate in an inter-active, faith-based lesson followed by a children's music time with Scott after worship service.

TRINITY'S COFFEE HOUSE
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2024 AT 7:00PM

We meet once a month at Trinity with knitting/crocheting hands to make shawls for our members in need of a “hug.” Blessed handmade items are delivered right to their home to warm the heart and soul. I have a simple knit pattern that can be made easily. It comes along with a card of encouraging words.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday February 19th. 1 to 2 pm. All are welcome!
Our shawls and blankets have become quite popular and we need to keep on making more to comfort our members in need and the fellowship is great too!
Anyone interested in meeting over a cup of tea just once a month for one hour for a rewarding mission please contact Linda F. at: lmferraro25@gmail.com
