MBX Announces More
Course Options at MBX Flex!
MBX has added new course options at MBX Flex!

MBX Flex now offers Spanish 1, 2, and 3, Biology, Chemistry and Algebra 1 & 2 (remedial only). Registration for these courses will open on Tuesday, February 20. Modern World History, US History, Government, Economics and Geometry MBX Flex courses are all open for registration now.
What is MBX Flex? Does your student want to take summer school but the dates and times of traditional MBX Summer School don’t work for your schedule? Or perhaps your student’s learning style benefits from a more personalized environment? Then MBX Flex is for you.
MBX Flex is “flexible schedule” summer school courses. Students will meet with certificated teachers for approximately 20, 2-hour block sessions for a 2 semester course and 10, 2-hour block sessions for a 1 semester course, plus proctored tests, with the option of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 teacher/student ratios. Coursework will be WASC accredited and will be accepted for credit on MCHS transcripts.
While schedules are flexible and intended to meet your needs, students electing 1:2 or 1:3 ratios must find their own partners with all partners following identical schedules. Classes can begin as early as 6/18 and must be completed by 8/10.
Registration is open and enrollment is limited. If your desired course is full, please sign up for the "Wait List". MBX will open additional slots pending instructor availability.

MBX is still offering traditional Summer School with all regular course offerings. Registration will open Tuesday, March 6 for seniors, Thursday, March 8 for juniors, Tuesday, March 13 for sophomores, and Thursday, March 15 for Freshmen. For courses and additional information, click here .

Costa honors 8 athletes on
National Signing Day!
On National Signing Day, 8 Costa athletes that are planning to play a sport at the Collegiate level were honored. These athletes will be playing a variety of sports which include softball, boys tennis, girls volleyball, girls soccer, girls rowing, and girls rugby . READ MORE
Girls Water Polo Team is undefeated and
Bay League Champions!
Mira Costa Girls Varsity Water Polo reclaimed the Bay League trophy last week after beating Redondo 9-6 to finish the season 8-0 in Bay League and 13-0 in regular season play.   

The first CIF playoff game is on Thursday, February 15th at 3pm at Mira Costa.

Boys Soccer secures Bay League Championship Title!
The boys’ soccer team finished the regular season strong with 2 key victories to earn the Bay League Championship!
Peninsula finished with the same amount of points, but Mira Costa is on top because of the goal differential tie-breaker. 
The first game in the 32 team bracket will be at 3:00 Friday Feb. 16th at home on the new turf field. Come out and cheer Costa on!
Boys and Girls Wrestling Team Updates!
Girls Wrestling sends 3 qualifiers to compete at State level!

The girls team wrestled in a 24-man bracket CIF Qualifier at El Toro High School. Only the top 8 qualify to compete at CIF, and the following 5 girls qualified:
Sasha Medvidovic (Sr) – 150 lbs – 1st Place
Allysa Nocum (Jr) – 121 lbs – 2nd Place
Cali Sheldon (So) – 106 lbs – 3rd Place
Orquidea Ordonez (So) - 160 lbs - 3rd Place
Viviana Ramirez (Jr) - 189 lbs - 3rd Place

Boys Wrestling Team is
Bay League Champions!

The wrestling team finished on top with another successful season. Once again, the boys ended as Bay League Champions, completing their season undefeated in all of their duals against every other team.

Congratulations to the Rotary Solo Competition Winners!
The Finals of the Rotary Solo Competition took place on Friday, February 2nd. All award winners will be recognized at the Rotary Awards Breakfast on Monday, March 12th.

Cheer team competes in Orlando!
The cheer team competed in the US National Cheer Competition at the ESPN Sports center in Orlando, Florida. Both cheer teams made it to the semifinals, and the JV team advanced to the finals. They took 5th place in the nation! Congrats to both teams for outstanding performances!
Costa Surf Team cleans up!
The Mira Costa Surf Team cleaned up at the South Bay Team Challenge over the weekend of February 4th-5th. The team claimed 1st and 3rd place, competing against all the other teams in the South Bay! Palos Verdes High School took 2nd.
The Costa Surf team continues to be undefeated!
All District Orchestra Festival is a success!
The All-District Orchestra Festival took place on Thursday, February 8th at Mira Costa High School Auditorium. It brought together 375 musicians from all five elementary schools (Grand View, Pennekamp, Pacific, Robinson and Meadows) as well as Manhattan Beach Middle School and Mira Costa High School.

MUN competes on both coasts!
Mira Costa Model United Nations was competing on both coasts this weekend, with a team of thirty-seven competing in Chicago at MUNUC, and others competing at Surf City in Huntington Beach.

Girls Basketball finishes strong, winning 5 of their last 6 games and taking 2nd place in Bay League!
The Girls Basketball season is coming to a close. Both JV and Frosh/Soph completed their season on Thursday against Redondo. Both teams improved throughout the season and they all had a great time playing basketball.
​The Lady Mustang Varsity Team finished the Bay League in 2nd Place. The girls finished strong winning 5 of their last 6 games.

Costa heads to the CIF playoffs playing Lynwood at 7pm on Thursday!

Girls Soccer takes 3rd place in competitive Bay League!
The Girls soccer team took 3rd Place in Bay League after winning a playoff game against Palos Verdes last Thursday. Costa won in double overtime 3-2 to advance to CIF on Thursday Feb. 15th. They will be playing Canyon High School in Anaheim. Congrats and good luck!

AIDs Benefit Show,
plus upcoming events!
On Tuesday, February 6th, Mira Costa’s Drama/Tech Dept. hosted its annual AIDS Benefit show. It was a spectacular evening which showcased the performances of students in a night of songs, dance, monologues, scenes, comedic improv, and music supporting a very worthy cause. All proceeds from the show go to Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS.  READ MORE
All District Band Festival is coming up, plus more news!
The All-District Bands Festival will be on Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 in the MCHS Auditorium. This concert will feature students from all the band programs in the district: elementary schools, MBMS and all the concert bands at the high school, as well as the Jazz Band and Marching Band. It is such an exciting concert and shows our talented students growth from their early beginnings to the accomplished musicians they become with the support of our district’s music programs.
Boys Basketball finishes season and looks ahead!
Congratulations to the Frosh/Soph team! They finished first in the Bay League Conference!

Congratulations to the Junior Varsity team. They had a great season with many close games.  The basketball program is very excited about the talent coming up from the Frosh and JV levels!

Varsity came very close to making it into the CIF playoffs. Their last two games were very close and they just fell short by a few points against Inglewood and Redondo.
Costa Dance Team puts on Dance Camp!
The Mira Costa Dance Team had an extremely successful dance camp for grades K through 8 on January 26th! They had about 60 mini mustangs participate, and they even got to perform at the Varsity Boys’ Basketball game on January 30th. Everyone was very impressed with these talented dancers and hope to see them on Dance Team in the future!

Girls Beach Volleyball is off to a great start!
The girls began pre-season practice on January 22nd, and are preparing for another successful season of competition. They are carrying a combined Varsity/JV roster of 45 players. Sunday was the 4th annual Mira Costa Pairs Tournament. Schools were invited from the surrounding area to come spend the day playing and getting ready for the upcoming season.  READ MORE
