Last week we released a survey asking for your help shaping our next strategic plan. We’re grateful for an enthusiastic response so far! If you haven’t taken a few minutes to add your input, please click here or scan the QR code below to share your thoughts as an artist, arts administrator, or supporter of the arts. We are looking for responses from far and wide, so consider sharing the link with folks who care about the arts but might not interact with MSAC right now. Survey feedback will help us understand how we can serve you best in the coming years. The deadline for the survey is February 7. We appreciate you!

Our first Arts Capital grant deadline is near! If your organization’s operating budget is under $3 million and you have a renovation project in mind that will make a facility more accessible, energy-efficient, or effective for your arts and cultural programming, click here to learn how this grant can help. The FY 2024 application deadline is February 16.

Artists, don’t miss the opportunity for Grants for Artists funding. This program contributes to the sustainability of artists’ livelihoods with funds that support working or living expenses of artists who reside in Maryland. Click here for more information and resources for applying. The FY 2024 application deadline is February 29.

And, Maryland Arts Day is February 13! The day brings hundreds of arts supporters to Annapolis to make sure support for the arts remains a priority for state legislators as they develop next year’s budget. Click here to register (deadline Thursday, February 1) for information about registering for this exciting day hosted by our friends at Maryland Citizens for the Arts!

Wishing you an arts-filled February!

PUBLIC ART ACROSS MARYLAND

Artwork Commissions artist profile

MSAC is proud to attract and commission public artists from across the country to create new public artwork for new or renovated state buildings and campuses through our Artwork Commissions program. Stacia Goodman, one of two artists commissioned to create new works for Frostburg State University's new Education & Health Sciences Center, was recently featured on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" program. She talked about her experience as a public artist and how she manages her business. Find the story by clicking here, and stay tuned for more updates on the new artworks by Stacia, and Maryland-based artist, David Hess, for the FSU campus.

Sign up for the Public Art listserv

Did you know that MSAC manages a Public Art Google Group listserv? This is a great platform for artists and administrators to discover or share public art opportunities, Calls to Artists, professional development, and Q&A. To subscribe to the listserv, please email Special Projects and Grants Associate Rosa Chang at rosa.chang@maryland.gov.
