The first ever CASA Rubber Ducky Derby
is coming to town!!!
Our race date is May 19, and 10,000 rubber duckys will race at CMT ranch in Orcutt - sliding down a massive slip n slide - racing for one lucky person to win a special grand prize.

This event will be high profile, and the 6 weeks prior to the race you will find us all over the county with opportunities to "adopt a duck" and get in the race.

You can even have your own "duck adoption team" and compete for more prizes! Watch for details to come and join the fun!

We are still seeking additional sponsors for the event - so if your company wants to sponsor... you will be in on the most high profile event of the year, and support CASA in the process! Contact [email protected] for a sponsor packet today.
Continuing education
Dave Selberg
February meetings will be on the topic of Gender and Sexual Diversity presented by Dave Selberg, Executive Director of Hospice of Santa Barbara.

With over 25 years of nonprofit experience in Santa Barbara County, Dave has built partnerships with schools, law enforcement, businesses, government, and nonprofits.

Dave is a former CASA volunteer and former Executive Director of the Pacific Pride Foundation. As a big supporter of CASA he is excited to share his story with our current CASA volunteers.

MEETING DATES
Santa Barbara - February 12 - noon-1PM
Santa Maria - February 13 - noon-1PM
Lompoc - February 13 - 5:30-6:30PM

Other continuing education opportunities

This Podcast provides great insight about the various support systems that children living in poverty need in order to thrive.

To complete the training send an email to your advocate supervisor with a short summary of your takeaways and questions. This counts for 1 hour of Continuing Education. Be sure to record your hours. (just click on the link and you're there)
Refer a friend to CASA and win a movie night prize!
Next week we'll be wrapping up our Lompoc training and welcoming 12 new CASA Volunteers. The next training is in Santa Maria in March and in Buellton in April. With close to 60 children waiting, we need your help to fill the class! Each person you refer gets you an entry into the drawing.
Invite someone to attend one of our upcoming information sessions - and you can come too, and be one of our guest speakers!

Volunteer survey results
Thanks for the feedback on the recent survey and the record attendance at the January volunteer meetings

Based on the survey results there is significant interest in adding an evening meeting in Santa Maria and having monthly in-service training available via webinar. We are working on a plan to implement those changes soon.

We have also had great feedback so far for the February Survey requesting information about the possibility of offering a quarterly Saturday training option. We will let you know what we learn.
Please note: The CASA offices are closed 2/18/19 for President's Day
(the emergency phone line is open 24/7)
You know how you hear about all the nonprofits who have monthly giving opportunities? Well - we do too, and we would love to have you join! It's quick and easy to join, and it makes a BIG difference for our kids!
