Last Chance to Register for Well Traveled

Well Traveled, a 12-week online adventure, began on Monday, Jan. 30, but you can still join over 300 of your colleagues on this journey! Registration for Well Traveled is open through this Friday, Feb. 3. That is also the final date to join a team.

During Well Traveled, participants will “visit” and learn about various attractions; answer fun trivia questions; and record physical activity, moments of self-compassion, and instances of appreciating differences. You do not need an activity tracking device or app to participate. Teams and individuals who meet their goals will be entered into a prize drawing!

Employees must be benefits-eligible to participate. For those who are Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients, completing this challenge is a great way to earn the Physical Activity Program Incentive. Attestation Forms will be available in HCM by the end of the program on April 23.

February is American Heart Month

It's February – American Heart Month – a time when the nation spotlights heart disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this issue, through its potential harmful effects on the heart and vascular system, people delaying or avoiding going to hospitals for heart attacks and strokes, and unhealthy lifestyle behaviors while in lockdown.

The good news is this: heart disease is preventable in most cases. To prevent heart disease, work toward adopting a healthy lifestyle, which includes not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, controlling blood sugar and cholesterol, treating high blood pressure, getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week, and receiving regular health checkups.

The Wellness Program is here to assist you with leading a healthy lifestyle. Register for upcoming programs and check out the information about Nutrition Coaching at the bottom of this newsletter. To learn more about American Heart Month, browse the resources linked below.

Recordings are posted here and will be sent out weekly to those who register for the on-demand series, which begins on Monday, February 13.
