yoga newsletter header

Dear NAYC Community,

Help us celebrate the month best known for
LOVE! Explore the words below to find out more.

To Begin, we have yet another yoga story to share with you.  Thank you Victoria for sharing your path with us.  We love the smiles that you bring to your practice and our hearts!

Dear NAYC Students,

My journey with yoga began when I was 14 years old and had just moved to Phoenix, and settled right across the street from a yoga studio. I couldn't help but be drawn towards the energy of the place and began taking up a regular practice the summer before I entered high school. Due to the ebb and flow of both the high school and college experience, it wasn't until after I graduated with my Bachelor's that I found the power and surrender of yoga once more. While in Washington DC, I was exposed to the Mysore style Ashtanga practice and began to dedicate five early mornings out of the week to accompany the sunrise and walk across the city while it was in the midst of quietly awakening. This was the first time that I distinctly felt the power of tapas, or that fiery enthusiasm that leads to self-discipline. I noticed that this passion began to permeate into different aspects of my life, including my goal to be a mental health counselor.

My yoga journey has led me here to Flagstaff in order to further my goal by enrolling in graduate school, as well as to further explore the world of yoga. I began practicing regularly at NAYC in the summer of 2012 and soon after found out about the Vertical Soul Yoga teacher training program. I realized that it was my calling to help people heal through a holistic perspective of health that is informed by both yogic philosophy as well as the art of counseling. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at the very studio that I call now my second home.

Though I have only just begun walk the path of yoga, I have learned to practice with the balance of discipline and gratitude that brings about purpose in my life, as well as the motivation to assist others in becoming aware of that same truth within themselves.

Love and Light,
Vicky Giles-Vzquez

Feature Teacher: Jan Tassi Rominger

This February Norther Arizona Yoga Center welcomes Jan Tassi

Rominger to the schedule.

Originally form San Diego, Jan moved to Flagstaff after living in Seattle, Phoenix, San Francisco and New Mexico. She first began to practice yoga while living in San Francisco in 1990. She has been teaching yoga for 18 years at Universities, health clubs and yoga studios, as well as the Flagstaff and Sedona Yoga Festivals.

Jan's new class on Tuesdays from 7:15PM to 8:30PM is called Spontaneous Healing Yoga. Jan tells me, "Modern Science and ancient wisdom agree- everything is a state of vibration. We are immersed in a field of pure, positive energy and information that influences our physical, emotional spiritual and mental health: A field that is accessible to us at all times.

This class combines Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Restorative Yoga and invites a space for healing to take place on an energetic level. Whether or not you feel you are in need of healing, this class will offer something to everyone- deep relaxation, gentle stretching, and perhaps emotional and physical healing. Jan tells me that it isn't herself who is doing the healing, but by providing a space for her students, they provide healing for themselves, if they choose to do so.

"Many people who have attended classes have experienced instant pain relief, a sense of well-being and relief, discovered a deeper connection to themselves, to source and those around them, as well as pure joy, clarity and peace," Jan says. "Treat Yourself to this addicting life experience- a gift of health and well being to you from your dearest companion... you! All levels and abilities are welcome!"

It is courtesy of Pinterest, although I made some changes. I hope February is full of love for you.

Namaste,

Karen

2014 Vertical Soul Yoga Teacher Trainings

Ask yourself, are YOU ready to change your life forever?

Yoga is the science of ever-expanding consciousness.  As we transform ourselves, we are drawn to help others.  Going to group yoga classes on a regular basis helps us maintain a healthy frame of mind and keeps our bodies strong and flexible.  Some students are able to tap into the higher states of consciousness.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Vertical Soul Yoga Teacher Trainings provide Soul Immersions. It is like crossing the Rubicon! There is no going back to your old patterns.  The seeds are planted.  You begin the greatest journey of your life, the inner One.

Vertical Soul Yoga readies the dedicated yoga student for the yoga classroom, teaches them valuable skills to enhance their own practice and provide a well-informed, safe and unique approach to teaching. Malisa Bobbitt, Director and Founder, and Master of Education since 1999, uses a heart filled approach to create a safe learning environment for her students.  She also believes in providing the best education possible by recruiting highly qualified faculty.

Vertical Soul Yoga explores many different paths and techniques of yoga, enabling the graduated student the ability to develop his or her own style and voice in teaching.

We consider our trainings Spiritual Teacher trainings, delving deep into the philosophy of yoga, meditation and pranayama technique. Imbuing a strong sense of community, Vertical Soul Yoga trainings provide a nurturing space to discover your true, divine self and cultivate a soul-centered practice.

We are now accepting enrollment into the 2014 Vertical Soul Yoga Teacher Trainings. To keep classroom sizes small we have limited spaces available and they are already filling up fast!
