Judge for a Day Program
The deadline for submissions is February 21, 2020
 
The Judge for a Day program provides eager high school students the opportunity to spend time with a judge and experience our legal system. Students have an opportunity to shadow a judge for one day from March through May. The program is offered in conjunction with National Law Day. Students who are interested are asked to write a short essay or submit a 90 second to 2 minute video or musical composition on the Law Day Theme:  Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19 th Amendment at 100 . The deadline for submissions is February 21. For more information visit https://www.utcourts.gov/media/lawday/ or contact Utah State Courts Communication Director Geoffrey Fattah at geofff@utcourts.gov .
Litigation Section Trip to Cuba

The Litigation Section’s first comparative law CLE in Cuba was a great success. Thank you to Heather Sneddon for all of her hard work putting the trip together and to all of those who participated.

Regulatory Reform CLE

February 27, 2020

Regulatory Reform CLE -- On February 27, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., the Litigation Section of the Utah State Bar will hold a CLE featuring a panel consisting of members of the Bar’s Committee on Regulatory Reform tasked with evaluating proposed reforms, including Judges Sam Chiara and Thomas Willmore, Erik A. Christiansen, Heather L. Thuet, Mark Pugsley, and Mark O. Morris as well as members of the Task Force Implementing the recommendation of the Report of the Work Group on Regulatory Reform. The price is $10 for Litigation Section members and $20 for others. Lunch will be provided. Please register online by February 25, 2020 at sectionsupport@utahbar.org or 801-297-7036.  
 
Tumbleweeds Film Festival Family Event

March 10, 2020

Utah Film Center Networking Event -- On March 10, 2020, at 6:30 pm, the Utah Litigation Section will join the Utah Film Center in hosting a special film screening for families. In addition to the film, there will be light refreshments and a workshop for kids. This event will be held at the Salt Lake City Library. The price is $10 for families and $5 for individuals. Litigation Section Second District Judicial Reception -- A Litigation Section Judicial Reception will be held on April 17, 2020 at the Ogden District Court. A meet and greet will commence at 12:00 and a panel discussion with judges and commissioners from Ogden and Farmington courts will follow from 12:30 to 1:30. This will be an excellent opportunity for the bar to associate with the bench. A light lunch will be provided. RSVP matthew@koylelaw.com
