February brings Black History Month, American Heart Month, Valentine's Day, Presidents Day, and National Library Lover's Month... Spoiler alert, it's always library lover's month here!


Also, February goes by fast, so get your tickets for the Library Foundation Gala on Saturday, March 23 and the Friends of the Library Library Mini Golf event on March 1 and 2.

Rutherford Foundation Gala



Join us for live music, open bar, and amazing food at the social event of the year. The Rutherford Public Library Foundation Gala takes place on Saturday, March 23 from 6:30pm to 11pm at Il Villagio in Carlstadt.


This year's honoree is Dan Meredith, owner of Dan Meredith Allstate Insurance Agency, and president of the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce. Dan is being recognized for his exemplary service to the Rutherford community and the library. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available here.

Library Mini Golf Returns March 1 & 2

Join the Friends of the Rutherford Library for the second annual Library Mini Golf fundraiser! This is a fun family and community event that supports children's programs, museum passes, movies, and more at the library. Tickets are on sale now!



  • Friday, March 1, from 6-9pm, adult night, $25/person, includes snacks and drinks.
  • Saturday, March 2, from 10:30am-3:30pm, family day, $10/family; $3/individual. There is timed admission for Saturday to prevent overcrowding.

For National Library Lover's Month, we challenge you to use a new resource this month! Whether in-person or online, the Library has so many tools to get you the information you need or send you on an interesting research adventure!


In honor of Black History Month, may we direct you to Black Life in America?


Do you need to do your taxes? We have federal and New York forms in the library and can direct you to NJ state tax forms.


Strengthen your English with ESL classes, or learn a foreign language with LingoLite, which teaches popular, common phrases; Mango, which will get you closer to fluent.


Students have access to test prep, live tutoring with Brainfuse, biography and geography resources, and of course any subject in the library. Parents can access autism resources, community info, and more.


Job seekers have access to resume review, career coaching, and interview prep with Brainfuse's JobNow and Bergen County Job Center.


The library provides great ancestry resources too! You can access ancestry.com in the library and HeritageHub and HeritageQuest from anywhere.

In celebration of Black History Month, Soundstage 4 Kids will give a musical presentation, "From Africa to Zydeco!" on Friday, February 23 at 4pm. We've also got crafts, Music & Movement for Toddlers, a magic workshop, and much more!


All events meet in person unless noted. We ask that caregivers accompany young children to programs. If an event requires registration, please click the highlighted text to sign up.
