According to a recent Gallup poll, concerns about national discord is at an all-time high. For many it seems impossible to unite when our differences seem so large. Recognizing that something needs to give, we also have to accept that we can't change others, we can only change ourselves.
Our February focus is on cultivating our inner attitude toward others and creating lovingkindness, a state of mind that’s been hailed as “a great equalizer and an antidote to hatred and aversion.”
Lovingkindness is the translation of the Pali word "metta" which has two root meanings "gentle" and "friend." The Buddhist metta practice begins with connecting to what it feels like in our bodies when we experience love toward someone and using that as a foundation to bridge the gaps between ourselves and the people with whom we disagree. We learn to not only be a good friend to others, but to ourselves as well.
Join us this month as we explore and cultivate lovingkindness during our live stream classes and on our digital platforms including our app and private Facebook community.
