The
Texas Association for Humanistic Education and Development (TAHEAD) is inviting article submissions for their 2019-2020 edition of the TAHEAD Newsletter, which will focus on the theme of
"Human Connection: Counseling, Supervision, and Teaching." Articles related to humanistic education and development addressing this theme will be considered for publication.
Submissions should be no longer than five pages and prepared in accordance with APA format. The deadline to submit an article for potential publication is
February 15, 2020 by 5 pm. Please submit articles for consideration via email to
brobertson2@islander.tamucc.edu.

Free Resource: Gender Violence Booklet
|

This booklet explains the impact of gender and domestic violence among Hispanic and Latinas, describes the difference between domestic violence and intimate partner violence, and how cultural values like marianismo and machismo embedded in Hispanic and Latino populations could exacerbate differences in the role between males and females. Many Latinas may confront struggles regarding power balances due to their gender, and factors like immigration, anti-immigrant environments, low income, and cultural values might influence this.

BHEC Strategic Planning Survey

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) has begun the process of strategic planning for fiscal years 2021-2025 and is looking for input regarding trends, conditions, opportunities, and obstacles that influence the Council as well as the practices of psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, and social work.

Project Update: Provider Management and Enrollment System (PMES)
Following a suspension period placed on the project by HHSC in July 2019, HHSC has terminated its contract with CNSI for cause, ending the vendor’s involvement in PMES modernization project.
HHSC remains committed to PMES goals. While today’s system is already modernized technologically, HHSC will continue to streamline and simplify the Texas Medicaid provider application. The agency will take a phased approach to implement enhancements to the provider enrollment and screening processes.
Enhancements will include:
- Adding pharmacy, long-term care, and long-term services and supports provider types
- Improving enrollment processing error rates and processing times
- Reducing dependency on the Texas Provider Identification (TPI) number

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is currently seeking feedback on mental health care in rural communities across Texas. This is an opportunity to share your perspective and help HHSC better understand factors that impact rural mental health care and service delivery. This survey closes on April 3, 2020.

Nominations for Texas Application for State Financial Aid Advisory Committee
|
|
The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) Advisory Committee was created to assist the Board in adopting the procedures to allow a person to complete and submit the TASFA for state student financial assistance by electronic submission through the state common admission application ApplyTX System.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is seeking nominations for individuals representing financial aid personnel, public school counselors, and other stakeholders who advise students regarding financial aid to serve on the committee. The TASFA Advisory Committee will meet at least three times a year. Members serve for a term of three years beginning in May.
