February is (still) Library Lovers Month!
|
Show us your love!
We love to see how creative our patrons are! Our plain wooden puzzle with a line drawing of Wallkill Public Library has really taken on a new life. And what a fitting prelude to our summer reading program theme this year, Color Our World.
Help us complete our community puzzle by decorating a piece today! Color the pieces here at the library using the markers provided. (Parents, please supervise your children with the permanent markers.)
As soon as every piece is colored in, the puzzle will be assembled and displayed here at the library.

According to the Tate family, we are the best library ever! They made a sign for us to hang in the Children's Room.
This month’s home school teens tried their hand at pyrography, and wood burned cozy scenes in small pine slabs. Impressive!
Last week, we served up a cup of love with wood burned wooden spoons!
With Wednesday’s warm weather, we nixed a Winter Shadowbox and
opted for more Spring-like projects... mostly!
Saturday Workshop - Soap Making
|
During the first session of our Saturday Workshop series, everyone made two homemade bars of soap with Maritza Romero of Heaven Scent Candle Co. using a melt-and-pour base that included goat's milk, shea butter, coconut oil and essential oils. Makers chose their own natural scents and flower petals to customize their bars.
In our next Saturday Workshop on Saturday, March 15, we will be making Lip Balm.

Adult Fiction Book Club's March selection
If you would like to attend virtually, contact Kim O'Sullivan at kosullivan@rcls.org.
On Tuesday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m., the adult fiction book club will meet in the children's room to discuss The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman.
Coralie Sardie is the daughter of the sinister impresario behind The Museum of Extraordinary Things, a Coney Island boardwalk freak show that thrills the masses. An exceptional swimmer, Coralie appears as the Mermaid in her father’s “museum,” alongside performers like the Wolfman, the Butterfly Girl, and a one-hundred-year-old turtle. One night Coralie stumbles upon a striking young man taking pictures of moonlit trees in the woods off the Hudson River. The dashing photographer is Eddie Cohen, a Russian immigrant who has run away from his father’s Lower East Side Orthodox community and his job as a tailor’s apprentice. When Eddie photographs the devastation on the streets of New York following the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, he becomes embroiled in the suspicious mystery behind a young woman’s disappearance and ignites the heart of Coralie.

Saturday Morning Book Club's March pick
Looking to read ahead? The April selection for the Saturday Morning Book Club is The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons. Click to reserve your copy today.
The Saturday Morning Book Club will hold their next meeting on Saturday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. They'll be discussing Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty.
The Delaney family love one another dearly—it’s just that sometimes they want to murder each other . . .
If your mother was missing, would you tell the police? Even if the most obvious suspect was your father? This is the dilemma facing the four grown Delaney siblings.
The Delaneys are fixtures in their community. The parents, Stan and Joy, are the envy of all of their friends. They’re killers on the tennis court, and off it their chemistry is palpable. But after fifty years of marriage, they’ve finally sold their famed tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. So why are Stan and Joy so miserable?
The four Delaney children—Amy, Logan, Troy, and Brooke—were tennis stars in their own right, yet as their father will tell you, none of them had what it took to go all the way. But that’s okay, now that they’re all successful grown-ups and there is the wonderful possibility of grandchildren on the horizon.
One night a stranger named Savannah knocks on Stan and Joy’s door, bleeding after a fight with her boyfriend. The Delaneys are more than happy to give her the small kindness she sorely needs. If only that was all she wanted.
Later, when Joy goes missing, and Savannah is nowhere to be found, the police question the one person who remains: Stan. But for someone who claims to be innocent, he, like many spouses, seems to have a lot to hide. Two of the Delaney children think their father is innocent, two are not so sure—but as the two sides square off against each other in perhaps their biggest match ever, all of the Delaneys will start to reexamine their shared family history in a very new light.
