Everyone Can Be Involved!

Committee Meetings Open to All!

WSPMA has developed several committees and interest groups that focus on a particular need of our industry and members. Currently our active committees and interest groups include: Education Committee, Diversity Committee, Professional Women In Pest Management (PWIPM) and PestVets. All of these groups are open to any Member or their employees. Involvement in a committees or interest groups often starts small, by attending a meeting and can help create a lasting network of resources as well as help shape the WSPMA. Below you will find the monthly Zoom links for each standing committee meeting. Feel free to join the next one and see what it's all about.

If you or someone on your team is interested in being involved, please email smalone@wspma.com.

A Letter From PNWPMC

"This year we have an exciting announcement and challenge with respect to the fundraiser, and that is the formation of the Laurel Hansen Scholarship Fund. We have a goal of raising at least $25,000 at the banquet to establish an Endowment for the next generation of pest control experts in Laurel’s honor. As a longtime member of our Conference Association and one of the world’s premier experts on Carpenter Ants, Laurel Hansen has been leading the charge on ant abatement and best practices for identifying and controlling one of the region’s most annoying and destructive pests. As you plan to reconnect with professional colleagues at the Pacific Northwest Pest Management Conference in Hood River, I hope and trust you’ll consider making a special and meaningful contribution to the Laurel Hansen Scholarship Fund. As an added incentive, one of our members has generously put out a challenge to help us reach that goal, and that is a DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR MATCH, up to $15,000 total! To clarify, when you give $1,000, an additional $1,000 will go to the scholarship fund… so let’s do this!  "

I was Raised in Palm Springs CA and earned an athletic scholarship to play football at California State University of Sacramento. There I received my BA in Communication along with a minor in Journalism. After College I played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl where I was recruited and picked up by the Denver Broncos to play on the Offensive Line. While in Denver, I suffered an MCL injury which resulted in a career that lasted less than a year. After football, I trained to become a Firefighter/EMT and worked as an emergency responder. I ended up switching careers yet again by working as a fleet technician for Clark Pest Control out of Lodi, CA. While at Clark Pest Control I fell in love with the culture and the industry. I took another job wanting to stay in the industry as a distribution rep with Geotech Supply and covered Northern CA and Reno NV for about 4 years. I am now with BASF covering the PNW along with Northern CA, Idaho, and Nevada. I am a jack of all trades.

Enterprise Fleet Management

Hello WSMPA members! At the Winter Convention we were fortunate to be able to hear from James Davis, Corporate Inclusion and Diversity Manager for Enterprise Holdings. One of the first topics we covered was how we solve problems. On the image below, can you find a way to draw 4 straight lines that touch all nine dots without picking up your pen? Stay tuned next month for the answer!

Get your team involved and supporting PestVets. A $50 donation gets you a kit to complete 10 lanyards!
