February is Black History Month!

Join us this February as we celebrate Black History Month throughout the City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation District. Many African American residents played a major role in the development of our parks and facilities!

Rebuilt in 2011, the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex was dedicated to

Mr. Robert L. Taylor in 2005.

Mr. Robert Lee Taylor (1924-2020)

A cherished pillar of the Sarasota community. Mr. Taylor helped grow the City’s recreation department at a time when swimming and other activities were off-limits to Sarasota’s Black community.

6 p.m. on President's Day. Golf courses are closed until early 2022 for planned renovations.
