February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
For many people, adolescence is a time to experiment with and learn about romance and relationships. This can be a fun and exciting time. Unfortunately, for too many young people it can be a scary and dangerous time too.
Research shows that 1 in 10 high school students has experienced physical violence from a dating partner in the past year. About 1 in 3 young people experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a partner.
Take time this month to learn how to support the young people in your life. Talk with them about healthy relationships and tell them what they can do if they are afraid for themselves or a friend.
If you or the youth have questions or concerns, call or text the Kodiak Teen Line anytime at 907-942-9015
