Dear Families,

Thank you all for your attendance at the One World Concert and EXPO this week. It was such a success, with students and families sharing and investigating learnings from across the globe. Thank you also for completing the YouthTruth Survey, where we had a 27% response rate. Appreciated!

This month our focus is on the character trait of Patience led by our 6th grade class.

Success is not about how fast you get there,

but how deeply you understand the journey.

Sonia Sotomayor,

U.S. Supreme Court Justice

We hope you will join us in discussing and cultivating patience at home - its a big task in our society right now, where "instant" is increasingly the norm and expectation.

One step we are making at the school is expanding the scope of our cell phone free environment. Starting Monday (and we are easing students into it this week), all phones must be put away and out of sight once the student enters campus (before school, before care, etc.). Students will continue to put their cell phone in their assigned pocket from bell to bell. This shift helps us keep all students safe, as we cannot monitor the content on all individual cell phones in the morning. Students will be able to use their cell phones after school to arrange pick up as needed.

Here are a few additional announcements for you:

  • Report Cards - Will be going home with students on Wednesday. Please check with your student to receive theirs.
  • Enrollment - If you have not done so already, please complete your Intent to Return form, sharing your intention for next year.
  • Lonza Night - The 2nd - 5th grade classes will have a family science night at Lonza on February 10th 6:00 - 8:00 pm. RSVP is required.
  • Middle School Dance - Is February 12th 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Thank you so much for your partnership!

Best,

Maestra Melissa
