Mentors Matter!
Volunteer Spotlight
January was National Mentoring Month! Awesome volunteer mentor Aimee Miller tells us a little about her experience.

Q: Why did you want to become a mentor?
A: I was looking for a way to give back and it seemed like an ideal time to do that with an organization that has a great impact locally on kids and our communities.

Q: What has mentoring taught you?
A: Mentoring has allowed me to experience and appreciate the amazing similarities and differences among individuals, families, and cultures in our community. It has also reinforced the importance of close friendships for all of us.

Q: What favorite activities do you and your mentee share?
A: Our favorite activities are playing with our dogs, playing at the park, and just talking to each other.

Since we don't charge tuition or fees for any of our programming, we are so deeply grateful for our funding partners. At the start of 2019, we were delighted to renew partnerships with the following amazing organizations:
  • The Ball Foundation – the philanthropic arm of Ball Corporation – is supporting STEM learning
  • The Herbert and Judy Paige Family Foundation renewed its support of our overall programming for five Dreamer Scholars in the Elk class, as part of a 10-year commitment made in 2016
  • Rose Community Foundation is supporting academic programming for first- through fifth-graders
  • We're also delighted to announce a first-time gift from Eaton, a worldwide power management company. Eaton's grant is supporting overall programming for students and families.

Is your organization interested in partnering with us to support students from low-income communities in Boulder County?
