willie"Like a band of gypsies,
Willie Nelson tickets go down the Webtix highway"

Willie might not sing those exact words but the hard-working box office pros at Michiana Events Center  (MEC) might be excused for getting the lyrics mixed up.

MEC knew that when tickets for this musical legend went on sale, there would be massive amounts of traffic on their Webtix site. So we worked with them to increase the server capacity to make the spike in ticket sales roll quickly and smoothly down the road.

"There didn't seem to be any web order problems," said Gina Sawmiller, MEC call center manager. "Typically, people call and tell us internet is just spinning. Maybe they put in the wrong credit card, or maybe they picked seats at the same time as someone else. It was just minimal."

You can see the spike in traffic on the two servers used in the charts below:

"Over 1,100 tickets sold from 10:00 to 11:00, over 82% of them by Webtix, and absolutely no complaints about the server!" added Phil Heyerly, vice president, Blue Gate Hospitality Group.

dupeGot duplicates?

Have you noticed several duplicate names in your Wintix database? They aren't just taking up space in your database. They are a valuable asset and should be treated as such. These are people who have already bought tickets to your events - at least once. You already know to use them for email blasts, social marketing and promotions. So, when is the last time you cleaned up and updated y our customer list?

Over the next couple of months, we will give you some tried and true tips on mailing list maintenance.

First, let's start with a basic task - getting rid of duplicate entries.

One customer may have several records that differ slightly. Maybe the address is "St." in one record and "Street" in another.

That person could be getting multiple emails or flyers from you and get annoyed, instead of getting a ticket. Even worse, if they could be getting no news from you at all if the address isn't in a valid format. That could seriously impact the bottom line.

Or maybe you've just been doing things the same way in Wintix for a long time and want to know if there are better or more efficient ways to do what you need to do.
worldWelcome Webtix buyers from all over the world!

Did you know that Webtix 6 allows anyone with any address anywhere to buy tickets on your site?  This may be especially helpful if you are in a tourist area or are in a border state.

upgradeThanks to all who have already started the process of
upgrading to version 6!

If you missed last month's newsletter AND use Wintix version 5, you may not be aware that you will need to upgrade to Wintix version 6 during 2019. Wintix and Webtix 5 use the SIM and AIM platforms to process credit cards. SIM and AIM are slated to stop working this year. Your Wintix and Webtix 5 will continue to work (software never wears out), but the ability to charge credit cards in Wintix/Webtix 5 will be disabled.
