Hello Lisa,

As we approach the one year anniversary since opening our Hyannis WE CAN location, our expansion to Hyannis has not only become a haven for empowerment and support but has also woven us into the fabric of local community partnerships that truly exemplify the spirit of service.

This past year has given us to opportunity to work with Sharing Kindness, an extraordinary nonprofit organization that provides suicide prevention, mental health education and grief programs on the Cape & Islands. They have become a beacon of hope, sharing our space to offer group support to those affected by suicide. Their commitment to healing is a gift to our community, and we are proud to support their invaluable work.

We have also had the privilege of working with Cape Cod Foster Closet by acting as a Mid-Cape pickup location and have brought the generous offerings of the Cape Cod Foster Closet closer to those in need. Their dedication to providing clothing and resources to foster families and non-parent relatives raising children on the Cape is a testament to the power of community care.

Our doors in Hyannis are more than an entry into a building; they are a gateway to partnership, support, and a brighter future for those we serve. Here's to many more years of service, collaboration, and community building.

Human Rights Awards

We are absolutely thrilled to share that last month two outstanding members of our WE CAN family, Sheril Smith and Cecilia Phelan-Stiles, were awarded the prestigious 'Unsung Hero' award at the Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission’s Annual Human Rights Awards Celebration. This recognition is a testament to the passion, perseverance, and positive impact that these two remarkable women have contributed to the community.

Sheril Smith, whose dedication as a WE CAN PathMakers Mentor is a testament to her commitment to support and empower others and our community.

Unsung Hero Award recipient and WE CAN board member, Cecilia Phelan-Stiles.

Cecilia Phelan-Stiles, is a pivotal force on our Board and has the integral leadership and vision needed to make the strides we've made as an organization.

Both Sheril and Ceci's tireless advocacy for human rights has not only served WE CAN but has rippled out into the Barnstable County community. We are beyond proud to have Sheril and Ceci as part of our volunteer team.

Congratulations Kimberly!

Our wonderful colleague, Kimberly Hamblin, is embarking on the most magical journey of her life - maternity leave!

February will be a bittersweet month, as we celebrate Kimberly’s contribution to our team while also bracing ourselves for her absence.

Please join us in showering Kimberly with the warmest of wishes, as she prepares to welcome her very own bundle-of-joy into our world.
