"Taking charge" is a good resolution to make for the new year.
By doing a simple and inexpensive blood test, you can see what your
Nagalase levels are.
Why is this important ?
What is Nagalase?

Nagalase is an enzyme produced by cancer cells that help it to hide from the immune system.
The nagalase enzyme blocks the vitamin D receptor sites on the macrophage cells,
(cancer killing white blood cells), so they cannot “see” the cancer. It is a survival mechanism for cancer.
The higher the Nagalase level in the blood the higher the odds cancer is present.
  • Many people have this test to document a baseline number as a precautionary measure.
  • We have all of our cancer patients repeat this test to monitor progress of treatment.
  • Reasons for wanting to lower high Nagalase levels are to increase the ability of the immune system to detect and destroy cancer cells and or enhance the vitality of the immune system.
What therapies lower Nagalase levels?
In general, the best way to reduce (or eliminate) the production of this enzyme is to kill the cancer but there are two therapies in particular that are good at enabling the immune system to better identify the cancer cells that need to be eliminated without harming normal cells.
These therapies are GcMAF and Salicinium . Names that are not generally familiar to most doctors, let alone the lay person.

Let us explain

Both therapies are available in an IV (intravenous) and/or oral (by mouth) form.
First, to explain GcMAF The Gc is a description of the type of protein this consists of. The MAF stands for “Macrophage Activating Factor”. The macrophage white blood cell, (that we all have in our system), is part of our immune system whose main job is to identify and kill any abnormal cells (like cancer cells).

Remember, as mentioned above, the Nagalase enzyme blocks the vitamin D receptor sites on the macrophage cells so they cannot “see” the cancer cells. It is a survival mechanism for the cancer.

What GcMAF therapy does is restore the ability of the macrophage cells to detect the cancer cells and then attack and kill them.

When this happens, the production of Nagalase is reduced and the blood levels go down so it becomes easier for the immune system to detect the presence of any remaining cancer cells.
Salicinium is the second therapy that will lower Nagalase levels. It is a naturally occurring “glyco-benzaldehyde”. This compound falls into the category of a “nano-particulate conjugate”. What this means is, it is a chemical compound binding a sugar molecule to a benzaldehyde molecule.
Let's make this simpler
Glcyco (Sugar), is the taxi cab and the benzaldehyde is the passenger. When the compound enters (only) the cancer cells an enzyme breaks the bond between them. Free benzaldehyde is toxic to the energy production pathway in the abnormal cells. This weakens and/or kills the cell causing a drop in the Nagalase that allows the immune system to recognize how abnormal the cancer cells are and begins to attack the remaining tumor cells.

In addition to a drop in Nagalase blood levels, Salicinium has been shown to increase the strength of the immune system by causing an increase in immunoglobulin production (a tool the white blood cells use to kill abnormal cells). It also triggers an increase in the total white blood cell (a big part of the immune system) count.
Would you like to schedule a Nagalase Test?

Patients who have not had a doctor's appointment within the last 6 months will need to schedule an office visit. If this applies to you we are offering $50 off this appointment for new & returning patients.
