February 2020

Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, President Day, MY BIRTHDAY
AND… we are in a Leap Year !

I think I say this every year- February is my favorite month! Halfway to spring. I know we will get more snow but soon the buds will be on the trees and the flowers will start blooming!

Did you know that it has been 10 years since the last census? Yep! 2020 is a Census Year. Did you know that $33 billion comes to OH based on census data? And of that, $13 million comes to Portage County? It is so important to complete the census and this year there are many ways to complete it. You will be able to respond online, by phone or by mail. Beginning March 12, 2020, you will begin to receive weekly invitations to complete the census through mid-April. If you haven’t responded by the end of May, be prepared for a Census Taker to knock on your door! AND…The 2020 Census is HIRING. Part time or full time at $16.00 an hour plus mileage!!! Interested? Go to 2020census.gov/jobs.

Lots of planning for 2020 is happening! Aurora’s Favorite Things is back this fall! Our Golf Outing will be in August and the Fall Festival & Business Showcase on October 3 rd. Plus our monthly luncheons, 3Chamber luncheons, After Hour’s Events and morning events. Keep checking allaboutaurora.com/events for updates or feel free to call us at the office at 330-562-3355.

Have you registered for the 2020 State of the City luncheon? It will be held on February 12 th at the Bertram Inn & Conference Center. Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin and Superintendent Pat Ciccantelli will be updating us on our city and schools.

Designer Purse Bingo is on February 27 th at Mario’s. This event is being sponsored by AWiN and we hope to make it an annual event. Don’t get shut out! Registration is limited.

Thorncreek Winery & Gardens will be hosting our 2 nd After Hours Event of 2020 on February 20 th. Our first 2020 After Hours was held on January 28 th at The Cabin and we had 17 people that got to see the beautifully decorated restaurant and enjoy some delicious appetizers!

2020 will be a busy year! Come to our events! They are a great way to network and grow your business. Remember that anyone from your business/organization can attend chamber events. Hope to see you there!
