February Notes of Interest
Professional Development Day
Katie's Kids Learning Center will be having their Professional Development Day on Monday February 20th. The center will be closed this day for child care but our teachers will attend to training's, working in their classroom, and hearing from speakers that day. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask administration.

Maternity Leaves
Before we know it, Miss Tia will be having her baby girl and both directors will be on maternity leave! This is such an exciting time for the Held and Griffin family and we couldn't be more happy for them. As the month of February begins, you'll see Miss Kristen at the front desk in the mornings and Miss Katie in the evenings. Miss Marissa will be back to Katie's Kids later that month with a new edition and we couldn't be more excited!  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with any of us at the front, we would be happy to help. As winter continues we hope Miss Marissa and Miss Tia have a great maternity leave and we cannot wait to see them return with their new additions!

As the weather turns colder, we know it will be very tempting to park as close to the building as possible. However, for proper flow of the parking lot, it is important that you park only in the designated areas. You may park in the spots in the front lot, back lot, or along the curb in front of the flag. You may not park along the opposite curb from the flag pole. Thank you for your understanding!
We are excited to announce that we have officially launched our new website design!! Check out the changes at www.katieskids.net and let us know what you think!

We still have t-shirts available for sale in honor of our 10 year anniversary. If you are interested in purchasing one (or some), please let the front desk know. They are being sold on a first come, first serve basis for $10 each. For available quantities and sizes, see below:

Developing Melodies® Music Corner

Music is such an important aspect here at Katie's Kids!
We believe music is an essential part of play and helps with growth and development of a child. Music is not only enjoyable for a child but it's a core function for brain development. The first 12 months of a child is critical for brain development and having music therapy can help with the response and process of brain growth. Music also taps in emotions, improve our attention skills, and enhances learning. We are a proud supporter of music therapy and enjoy watching what music does for our kiddos emotionally, physically, and cognitively!  We love having Ms. Janel here at Katie's Kids to encourage play and growth through music and rhythm!

Loose Parts Donations -
Our Focus this Month:

Keep track of all of those extra parts. We can use them here!
  • styrofoam
  • plastic bottles
  • bubble wrap
  • cardboard packing materials
We, at Katie's Kids, would like to keep utilizing loose parts in our classrooms throughout the year.  Therefore, we are inviting parents and families that are interested to keep the supplies coming!  If you choose to donate you can drop the materials off at the front desk at any time!
Be sure to look through our center for how the loose parts are being used within the curriculum!
Thank you in advance for your donations, we look forward to seeing the creativity that stems from all of the materials!
