You Are Loved: How to Show Someone They Matter

When you think about Valentine's Day, candy hearts, roses, and cards come to mind. While it's a fun day for many, it can also bring up feelings of loneliness. Often, the people who need to hear "you matter" the most feel completely invisible. This Valentine's Week, we have a simple but powerful way to change that.

Coalition Highlights

The Boone County Alliance kicked off the new year with strong momentum across all prevention goals and community initiatives. Vaping education materials were shared with local schools, medication lockboxes were delivered to Boone County homes through the Magnet Mailer Initiative, and mental‑health resources reached more than 150 families through Fiesta’s food distribution.

Staff also supported homeschool wellness needs and continued infrastructure work in collaboration with regional partners. January included active participation in multiple coalition meetings, youth‑focused planning sessions, and the Reconnect & Recharge training. Media outreach remained robust, with a new blog post on emotional wellness, a newsletter reaching 205 subscribers, and notable growth in website traffic and social engagement.

We are super excited for our most recent project, the "You are Loved" student video campaign. Channel 9 news joined us for this campaign, and we look forward to the piece being aired next week!

Partner Spotlight

The Family Resource & Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) within Boone County Schools is a vital partner in supporting students and families beyond the classroom. FRYSC staff work every day to remove barriers to learning by connecting families to essential resources, supporting students’ social and emotional needs, and strengthening school–community connections.

From basic needs assistance to prevention and mental health supports, FRYSC plays a critical role in helping students feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed. We are grateful for their collaboration and continued commitment to the well-being of Boone County students and families. We have recently partnered with our FRYSC for numerous events for Boone County students and families.
