Please note that the DoD SBIR22 Broad Area Announcements (BAA) were recently “pre-released” and include over 178 topic areas, we have curated the four most relevant to this community.    Please take the time to share our newsletter with anyone whom you think might find it useful and/or interesting - Click here to subscribe.   Request for Proposal (RFP) -- The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) -- DH10--EO14042 Fraud Prevention Solution Software Subscription (VA-22-00000705) (New work) – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Financial Services Center (FSC) has a requirement to procure a fraud prevention solution and technical support to perform real-time and pro-active fraud protection validation services prior to vendor acceptance within the FSC Financial Management System (FMS) as a verified vendor. The FSC Nationwide Vendor-File Section maintains 2.5 million centralized vendor files for the VA’s FMS. The FMS vendor files are used to process payments and are updated daily, adding new vendor records, changing existing vendor records and/or deleting existing vendor records. The required solution will aid the FSC in the verification and validation process; however, it will not replace the FSC nationwide vendor-file process, but rather will enhance the FSC’s vendor onboarding procedures.    In other data news, on November 29th, MeriTalk published an interesting article entitled, DoE Needs Work on Managing Data Analytics, Protecting IP, and AI. In this article, Lamar Johnson describes how theThe Department of Energy (DoE) could improve how it manages its fraud, waste, and abuse practices by improving access to the data used by the agency and its contractors for data analysis, as well as using all tools available to keep the department’s research secure, according to a Nov. 26 DoE Office of the Inspector General (OIG) report.   “The IG’s report notes that DoE is currently having trouble implementing its Fraud and Risk Data Analytics Framework as a result of limited oversight, lack of resources, and lack of personnel trained in data analytics. The IG also said the agency needs to understand which data systems are being used by the agency and its contractors and gain access to that data before deciding how to assess and analyze the data.” The Carpe Datum Team
