  • Sources Sought – Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Market Research Subscription Tool – The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has a requirement for licenses to allow required users to access and use business credit data within an existing website. The data provided by the website should allow contracting officers to review all domestic and international company and credit data to determine if the company they are reviewing can meet each of the general standards listed in FAR 9.104-1. The contractor must provide access to an online subscription tool with unlimited report access to business credit reports to investigate the financial background of companies. This includes the re-use of reports after the initial request for up to 12 months.

In other data news, on March 16th, VentureBeat published an interesting article/interview entitled, Location data analytics provider SafeGraph raises $45M. In this article, Kyle Wiggers, describes how SafeGraph, a startup using AI to create and maintain mobility datasets, announced it has raised $45 million and with the investment, they plan to capitalize on the expanding international market of data buyers and offer new ways for companies to buy data through its network.

  • “But location analytics solutions have drawn increased scrutiny as regulators take a hard look at the data vendors are collecting. Using datasets from Fysical and SafeGraph, the New York Times managed to track the movements of former President Trump during the 2017 presidential inauguration. More recently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and IRS announced they would audit their own use of location data after it was revealed that the agencies were purchasing cellphone location data from commercial sources."
