In other data news, on March 22nd, Forbes published an interesting article/interview entitled, Startup ID.me Reaches $1.5 Billion Valuation For Its Identity Software Used By 22 U.S. States. In this article, Alex Conrad, describes how when Californians log on remotely to update their address or change a registration with the local DMV, there’s a good chance they’re using a software tool called ID.me. According to CEO Blake Hall, 38% of the state’s adults have an ID.me account today—some of the million people the service is adding every two weeks.

  • “While Google and Facebook’s one-click log-in options might be more familiar to Web surfers today, ID.me has built an impressive network through government contracts: 22 states have maintained contracts since August 2020, while agencies like the IRS and Department of the Treasury have signed on to roll out its use, joining longtime customer the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In 19 states like Georgia, ID.me helps citizens log in to access their unemployment benefits. Soon that will be 30 states, Hall says."
