Giddy up!   As always, please share the wealth and forward our newsletter to family, friends, and co-workers - Click here to sign-up.   Request for Information (RFI) –  Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) -- CIGIE Technology Committee Industry Day Series – Digital Forensics for Investigations – on June 16, 2021, we will be conducting an industry day, which will cover specific law enforcement and investigative tools, software, and services that vendors can provide to OIGs for their investigative oversight missions. The information we receive from this specific RFI will be used to select vendors for participation in our industry day event. Future technology industry days are planned for the topic areas of emerging technology and data analytics/visualization.    In other data news, on April 19th, The Hill published an interesting article entitled, Pressure mounts on DHS to stop using Clearview AI facial recognition.  In this article, Chris Hill Rodrigo describes how pressure is mounting on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to discontinue — or at least clarify — its relationship with Clearview AI, a controversial facial recognition company best known for scraping billions of images of people from social media sites.   “The National Institute of Standards and Technology, a federal agency within the Commerce Department, released an expansive study of voluntarily submitted facial recognition systems in 2019 that found the majority of them have “demographic differentials” that can worsen their accuracy based on a person’s age, gender or race.
