Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector (Vol. 4, Issue 25) which happens to be the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. We hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Despite the holiday, our friends in the Federal Government were quite busy this past week and it appears this issue’s theme is a familiar one – Open Source Intelligence. OSINT is topping the charts once again with a compelling opportunity at the Administrative Offices of the U.S. Courts as well as an article discussing the State Department’s efforts to stand up an open-source coordination office. We hope you enjoy and prosper!

Please take a moment to share our newsletter with anyone whom you think might find it useful and/or interesting ... as the saying goes, "the more, the merrier!" - Click here to subscribe.

In other data news, on May 23rd, Federal News Network published an article entitled, State Department intelligence arm to set up open source coordination office. In it, Justin Doubleday describes how the State Department’s intelligence branch is setting up a new open source office to improve how it shares analysis with diplomats worldwide under a new strategic plan that puts a major emphasis on upgrading the bureau’s IT operations.

  • “Brett Holmgren, assistant secretary of state for intelligence and research, says the Strategic Open Source Coordination Office will serve as a ‘central point of contact’ for policy, training and tradecraft around open source intelligence, or OSINT. The new unit will also test and procure open-source tools, help deliver them overseas, and manage contracts.”
