Request for Information (RFI) – the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) - Law Enforcement Data Search alternatives – The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) is a federal law enforcement (LE) and investigative agency operating throughout the full spectrum of conflict, seamlessly within any LE domain; conducting criminal investigations and providing counterintelligence services. AFOSI investigates a wide variety of serious offenses - espionage, terrorism, crimes against property, violence against people, larceny, computer hacking, acquisition fraud, drug use and distribution, financial misdeeds, military desertion, corruption of the contracting process, and any other illegal activity that undermines the mission of the U.S. Air Force or the Department of Defense.
In other data news, on November 15th, SpaceNews published an interesting article entitled, NGA notes advantages of unclassified commercial data. In this article, Debra Werner describes how the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is eager to tap into unclassified commercial data services as part of its ongoing effort to track activity around the world.
- “So much data is coming in the unclassified environment that it would be foolish of us to continue to lift that data into classified networks to exploit it,” Dave Gauthier, director of NGA’s Commercial and Business Operations Group, said Nov. 15 during “The Future of Geospatial Intelligence,” a GovExec TV episode. “We’re trying to find out how can we leave the data in that unclassified domain, and then exploit it there organically. Or have the companies do the exploitation in their environments and provide us the analytic services, which are the fruits of that exploitation.”
