Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector (Vol. 3, Issue 51), which is the only publication dedicated to Data and Analytics companies who share a passion for serving the Public Sector. Coming off of an abbreviated Holiday week, it is no surprise that this week’s issue is perhaps not as robust as the last few weeks’ editions; nevertheless, we think anyone who works for a company within either the Data or the Data Analytics industries will find ample, potential government contracting opportunities to consider -- not the mention a number of compelling and very relevant articles that focus on the nexus of data/data analytics companies and the public sector. Happy Hunting!

In other data news, on November 23rd, Government Technology published an interesting article entitled, NIST Wants to Know How Govt, Industry Are Using Emerging Tech. In this article, GT describes how the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has published a request for information in the Federal Register to gain insight into the role of emerging technologies in the public and private sector.
- “The eight areas of emerging technologies that NIST is seeking comments on are artificial intelligence, Internet of Things in manufacturing, quantum computing, blockchain technology, new and advanced materials, unmanned delivery services, Internet of Things, and 3D printing. NIST is seeking information in these eight areas related to several specific topics: marketplaces; supply chains; legislative, policy, and standards needs; and strategic public-private partnerships. The purpose is to learn about the current and future needs and risks in these areas, as well as the federal government’s current and future role in this space.”
