Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured item highlights a Request for Proposal from NATO's International Staff/Situation Centre for an OSINT/AI Alerting Platform that tracks international news organizations, social media platforms, and other open-source intelligence sources.
In other data news, on February 24th, MarketWatch published an article entitled Acxiom, the giant data broker, says it doesn’t collect information that could be used for abortion prosecutions. In this story, Levi Sumagaysay reports that Open MIC (Media and Information Companies Initiative), a nonprofit investor advocacy group that focuses on accountability at technology companies, has made a formal request to Axciom's parent company, Interpublic Group of Cos, to report on how they can protect information that could be used in abortion-related prosecutions.
-
“'A big part of our concern really comes down to transparency,' Dana Floberg, Open MIC’s advocacy director, told MarketWatch on Thursday. It’s unclear exactly what data Acxiom collects, Floberg added, as well as 'what kinds of measures they may or may not be taking to ensure they keep that data safe, and what they turn over to law enforcement.'”
