Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured items begin with a request from the Department of Treasury's Office of Privacy, Transparency, and Records seeking information on solutions that support the analysis of blockchain information aggregated from cryptocurrency data providers.

U. S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury), Office of Privacy, Transparency, and Records (PTR) — Request for Information – Subscription to Blockchain intelligence Data Aggregation for the Department of Treasury - The Treasury may have an upcoming opportunity for subscription to a web-based application resource that specializes in blockchain intelligence data aggregation from world leading cryptocurrency intelligence data providers, as well as negotiated hours of remote software engineering support. This tool and subsequent support would enable OIA-CID to provide mission-critical research to Treasury Leadership that would inform a variety of actions, help answer time-sensitive questions, and identify emerging items or issues of interest regarding crypto data. Information derived from this resource and the support would ideally be aggregated into customized dashboards, acting as a “translator” of the sought data. This tool and support must be dedicated to aggregating crypto data pulled from multiple primary and secondary sources, and not the direct data company.
In other data news, on April 14th, Federal News Network published an article entitled Diplomatic Security CDO sees ‘growth opportunity’ for analytics to shape risk assessments. This story explores how the State Department's Diplomatic Security CDO, Rachel Wang, views data analytics and emerging technology capabilities as the “biggest growth opportunity” for the bureau. The Bureau of Diplomatic Security, which has the largest global footprint of any U.S. federal law enforcement organization, is looking to make better use of its data to better protect department personnel and facilities.
-
“'Think of it like a data SWAT team that can quickly be mobilized and tackle some cross-cutting issues for the organization,' Wang said. 'Currently, people know that relying on data is important, and will do their best to pull together this data. However, I think building a central analytics capability … for the organization will be super important.'”
