Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service — Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Initiative 2.1: Identify Errors During Filing - The overall goal of Initiative 2.1 is to develop the capability for IRS to identify issues with tax returns at the point of filing, notify taxpayers and tax professionals about those potential issues, and allow them to make corrections, reducing the need to resolve errors later. To achieve this goal, the IRS will develop the capability to perform real-time checks of electronically filed return for errors in real time, match those returns against available third-party and internal data, and evaluate the taxpayer’s eligibility for credits and deductions.
In other data news, on December 20th, Federal Times published an article entitled How the CDAO’s GIDE series is bringing benefits of AI to the Pentagon. In this story, David Spirk describes how the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) Global Information Dominance Experiment (GIDE) series, initiated by the U.S. Department of Defense, catalyzes advancements in data-centric, AI-driven capabilities across the military. Spirk underscores the pivotal role of GIDE in fostering a culture of experimentation and collaboration, emphasizing the need for sustained investments to ensure ongoing success in the Department's technological transformation.
