Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured items begin with the GSA's Request for Information for capabilities to enhance the identity proofing services provided by Login.gov and integrated across many public-facing government systems. By leveraging both public and private offerings, GSA intends to capture and validate various forms of identification and documentation in order to establish and maintain an individual's authoritative identity.
In other data news, on December14th, FCW published an article entitled VA cancels future deployments of new supply chain management system. In this story, Edward Graham details the Department of Veterans Affairs decision to move away from their planned migration to the Defense Department’s supply chain logistics solution known as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support, at an estimated cost of $2.2 billion over fifteen years. Instead, the VA plans to award a new supply chain logistics contract by mid-2023.
-
“'VA’s supply chain efforts are built around one goal: providing a cost-effective supply chain that ensures the delivery of world-class healthcare and benefits to veterans and their families,' VA Chief Acquisition Officer Michael Parrish said in a statement. 'As the largest integrated healthcare system in the country, our supply chain logistics solution must meet the needs of the 1,298 medical facilities in our network and the millions of veterans that we serve—and this transition will help us do exactly that.'”
