Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector , the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured items begin with the Defense's Innovation Unit's request for commercially available software to address supply chain disruptions, a growing concern as companies deal with the continued fallout of pandemic-related availability issues. DIU’s call for software solutions emphasizes the need for analytic techniques that allow the department to take in data from commercial, proprietary, and government sources to develop computer models of supply chains.

In other data news, on September 7th, Federal News Network published an article entitled, Supply chain intel directorate aims to inform procurement ‘risk calculus’ In this story, Justin Doubleday describes how the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) has taken advantage of agency and policymaker interest in supply chain security to focus intelligence officials on identifying potential technology risks through organizations like the Federal Acquisition Security Council.

  • If we can go to one council, we’re kind of hitting all the right angles with regards to making sure that that information is provided in a timely manner,” she (Jeanette McMillian, assistant director of supply chain and cyber at the NCSC) said. “And we’ve also been able to participate in a lot of other initiatives by the Department of Commerce, the Department of Energy, as they’re filling out their supply chain roles. And [the Department of Homeland Security], especially with regards to some of the cybersecurity risk information that they’ve been able to produce for some of their outreach to cyber defenders.”
