In other data news, on November 1st, CPO Magazine published an article entitled Biden Admin’s Executive Order on AI Requires New Safeguards, Improved Transparency. In this story, Scott Ikeda describes the robust safeguards and transparency measures in the Biden administration's new executive order on AI, which are focused on avoiding potential AI-related harms, safeguarding critical infrastructure, promoting privacy, and combating deepfakes.
-
“The executive order also calls for improved privacy guidance for federal agencies that specifically addresses the procurement of information from private data brokers and accounting for AI risks to personal data. A report issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in June found that numerous government agencies have ongoing contracts with these data brokers, and that there was potential for this pool of intelligence to cause harm.”
