Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector , the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured items begin with a request from the General Services Administration's (GSA) Office of Customer and Stakeholder Engagement (CASE), seeking a comprehensive online souce of market intelligence on government agencies, the legislative branch, tribal organizations, and commercial enterprises.

General Services Administration — Market Research and Data Profile Subscription - GSA is seeking information on potential sources that can provide customer market research and analysis through a subscription service so that GSA's Office of Customer
and Stakeholder Engagement (CASE) can fulfill its mission by understanding customer buying patterns and spending trends. This service is expected to provide a comprehensive online collection of data that is accessible through both a queryable web portal and an application programming interface (API), provide high-end analysis, and deliver complete or summary reporting from a variety of news outlets.
In other data news, on August 23rd, The Conversation published an article entitled, A new US data privacy bill aims to give you more control over information collected about you – and make businesses change how they handle data. In this story, Anne Toomey McKenny describes how data privacy in the U.S. is, in many ways, a legal void - leaving U.S. citizens with minimal data privacy protections compared with citizens of other nations. But that may be about to change.
-
“With rare bipartisan support, the American Data and Privacy Protection Act (ADPPA) moved out of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce by a vote of 53-2 on July 20, 2022. The bill still needs to pass the full House and the Senate, and negotiations are ongoing. Given the Biden administration’s responsible data practices strategy, White House support is likely if a version of the bill passes.”
