Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to data and analytics companies that share our passion for serving the public sector. Our featured items begin with the FBI's RFI to US-based LPR data providers for a future IDIQ "storefront" of SaaS tools, requiring robust data collection, advanced analytics (AI/ML), persistent search, real-time alerts, and geo-capabilities, while excluding AdTech location data.

In other data news, on October 23rd, NextGov/FCW published an article entitled Industry groups push to keep open-source measures in annual intelligence bill. In this story, David DiMolfetta describes how OSINT vendors and former officials are lobbying Congress to pass House IAA provisions formalizing open-source intelligence in the IC, despite some agency opposition. Passage could significantly boost demand for commercial OSINT platforms and analytics providers.

  • The House intelligence panel has zeroed in on OSINT this year, forming an open-source subcommittee. Last year, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence under then-director Avril Haines released an OSINT strategy, arguing that 'rapid advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning present significant opportunities to capitalize on the value of OSINT.'”
