Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to Data & Analytics companies that share our passion for serving the Public Sector. Our featured items begin with a notification from the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) that they continue to seek white papers under their Broad Area Announcement (BAA) for new and innovative ideas around geospatial intelligence (GEOINT). We featured this solicitation when it was originally posted 12 months ago, and the Air Force released an amendment this week reminding vendors that they continue to seek innovative geospatial solutions. With multiple awards, an open submission period, and a flexible white paper proposal process, this is a great opportunity to propose a project tailored to a company's unique geospatial intelligence capabilities.

Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command, Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) — Geospatial Intelligence Processing and Exploitation (GeoPEX) - The Air Force Research Laboratory is soliciting white papers under this Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for research, development, integration, test, and evaluation of technologies/techniques to provide geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) in all its forms and from whatever source - imagery, imagery intelligence, or geospatial data and information - to ensure a solid foundation of knowledge for planning, decision, and action while creating tailored, customer-specific geospatial intelligence, analytic services, and solutions.
In other data news, on September 21st, Government Technology published an article entitled Getting More from Your Transportation Data. In this story, Government Technology's Content Studio explores the rapidly expanding market for transportation data and analytics. In light of the billions of dollars pouring into the sector from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), state and local government agencies have a chance to address long-standing infrastructure issues, and effective use of data and analytics may be the key to maximizing this unique opportunity.
-
“Government agencies will need to leverage data in new and sophisticated ways in order to plan and execute large, complex transportation projects. Using artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, predictive modeling, data analytics, and other advanced data science tools, transportation agencies can develop innovative solutions that help them more easily visualize and understand data, model and predict complex interactions, improve reporting, and optimize investments and infrastructure funding. Likewise, massive data sets coming from geographic information systems (GIS), video imaging, IoT sensors, public records and other sources will also be required. ”
