Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to data and analytics companies that share our passion for serving the public sector. Our featured items begin with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's request for current and historical Home Price Index (HPI) data at various geographical levels, including zip codes, counties, and states. The solution should span a wide range of price tiers and property types, and include regular data updates and ongoing technical support.
-
Department of Treasury, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) — Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) Home Price Indices (HPI) Data - The OCC relies on home price indices to support its supervision efforts, conduct research on credit-risk modeling, and other policy-related work. The agency is committed to protecting data confidentiality and only aggregate results (e.g. regression coefficients and tabular and graphical summaries of data that do not reveal information about individual records) will be published and/or shared with external co-authors. The OCC requires a responsible contractor to provide neighborhood Home Price Index (HPI) historical and current data (Data Set). The OCC will access this data through bulk data downloads.
In other data news, on June 26th, Defense One published an article entitled Inside the US Army’s Plan To Simplify AI For Intel Systems. In this story, Lauren C. Williams describes Project Linchpin, a U.S. Army project aimed at simplifying the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities into intelligence and electronic warfare programs. The project aims to provide program managers with proven and trusted technology to help filter through large amounts of data, with the goal of becoming a program of record by 2026.
-
“'The data available to intel analysts at speed and scale is impossible to leverage in real time, so they're gonna have to have models and algorithms just to help sort through this giant amount of data. And that's where Linchpin comes in,' Col. Chris Anderson, the program manager for intelligence systems and analytics at Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and Sensors, told Defense One. 'There will always still be a human in the loop. But we're gonna have to have AI and [machine learning] to filter out the stuff that doesn't matter.'”
