Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to data and analytics companies that share our passion for serving the public sector. Our featured items begin with the Air Force's $237M RAPID program, a long-term initiative through 2031 to build cyber-resilient cloud platforms that integrate and deliver multi-source intelligence. The program is requesting white papers for analytic environments that fuse GEOINT, SIGINT, and OSINT into secure, enterprise-ready decision-support dashboards.
-
Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command/Air Force Research Laboratory — Resilient Analytic Platforms for Intelligence Delivery (RAPID) - Seeking innovative white papers for the research, development, integration, test and evaluation of advanced technologies and techniques. This effort will focus on novel cloud-based tools, automating processing workflows, standards development and enterprise integration of existing intelligence capabilities into consolidated, cyber- resilient dashboards and analysis platforms. The goal is to establish a robust foundation for planning, decision-making, and action by delivering tailored, customer-specific intelligence, analytic capabilities, and solutions.
In other data news, on February 11th, FedScoop published an article entitled DOJ ramps up AI for legal work, crime predictions, surveillance, inventory shows. In this story, Miranda Nazzaro describes the Department of Justice's expanded AI footprint, with 315 active use cases, a 31% year-over-year increase spanning litigation support, prisoner risk assessments, predictive analytics, and facial recognition–enabled surveillance. The inventory highlights growing reliance on high-impact AI tools across DOJ components, including predictive models and partnerships with vendors like Palantir and Amazon, while drawing sharp scrutiny from privacy and civil liberties advocates.
-
“When used responsibly and in compliance with OMB guidance, AI tools can improve public safety by reducing response time, better utilizing and coordinating resources, and permitting personnel to focus on analytical and investigative efforts,” the [DOJ] spokesperson continued, adding the agency “continues to develop AI tools that achieve these goals.”
