We have been encouraging you for weeks to write letters, make phone calls, and schedule in-person meetings with your Congressional representatives, especially with Republican members of the House of Representatives who voted in favor of the February budget resolution. Across party lines, 82% of people polled recently by KFF support maintaining or increasing Medicaid funding. This is information you can share with your representative.
Congress is not in session from April 11-April 25, so members should be in their local district offices. Meeting in person or virtually with your representatives is the best way to influence your legislator and make sure they understand just how devastating cuts to Medicaid would be for you and your loved ones.
Now is the time to make an appointment! Every person and family should request an appointment – the more individual appointments and large groups, the greater the impact. They need to hear from each of their constituents. Repeatedly.
Find out how to contact your legislator here.
If you are a constituent in Rep. Andrew Garbarino’s district, we encourage you to sign up to receive information about the telephonic town hall reportedly being held on April 7.
In addition to the fight against Medicaid cuts, you may have also seen the recent Executive Order signed by President Trump aimed at heavily reducing the functions of the U.S. Department of Education. This has raised serious concerns about support for children with disabilities.
Urge Congress to protect the U.S. Department of Education here.
