Federal Beach Nourishment Funding is Back - thanks to our persistent efforts on Capitol Hill, our relentless Congressional Champions, and your support of the American Coastal Coalition.
$83.8 Million in Federal Beach Nourishment Funding Restored
But two ACC members still were not funded - Tybee Island, GA and Cape May City, NJ. After FY2025 saw $0 in beach nourishment funding, the total need in FY2026 ballooned to well over $200M as projects from 2025 were rolled into 2026. As of today, Congress has allocated insufficient funding to meet needs of the federal beach nourishment program. To make up for this partial shortage, the US Army Corps of Engineers had to tap into last year's disaster fund.
The American Coastal Coalition continues to emphasize the importance of Congress funding beaches regularly through annual appropriations, rather than post disaster supplementals.

The American Coastal Coalition's Critical Role - We broke the news, we led the campaign, and we delivered for our members. In 2025, the American Coastal Coalition held dozens of in-person meetings in Washington, DC. We met directly with key Members of Congress and the Corps of Engineers leadership, and some of our members' beaches were toured by the Secretary of the Army - A special thanks to Rep. Jeff Van Drew for making that possible.

Earmarks - Several Members of Congress have requested beach nourishment funding for FY2027. Full list to come.

Programmatic Requests - In addition to specific earmark requests, several members of Congress have submitted programmatic requests seeking the $200M that ACC asks for annually.

House E&W Letter - We have sent a letter to the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations committee urging $200 Million for beaches in FY2027

Andy Kim Senate Letter - Senator Andy Kim led a letter signed by 6 other Senators to the Senate Energy and Water Development Appropriations Committee urging $200 Million for beaches in FY2027
