We write to tell you that the second edition of the Christian Values Checklist, with amendments in the positive for Australian Christians, DLP, Family First and Rise Up Australia parties, has been officially released. Each of these parties has adjusted their policy statements on their websites to warrant a second edition and we applaud them for it.

The team at the Australian Christian Values Institute (ACVI) has been releasing Christian Value Checklists for both state and federal elections since 1999. The initial reaction from people was, "How dare you bring Christian Values into the realm of government decision making". Now the team is getting complaints from the parties who are not included on the checklist. The reality is, there is not enough room to include every party on the single sheet Christian Values Checklist. This year there is a record of 36 parties standing for election on 7 September 2013.
Christian Values Checklist 2013
The philosophy behind the Christian Values Checklist is to concentrate on the moral and ethical issues that the major parties do not usually address at election time. Issues such as life, family, moral and religious freedom. The goal is to promote the advancement of the values that built Australia into one of the leading nations in the world today.
Australia's constitution says, 'Humbly relying on the blessings of Almighty God'. Our nation's success is built on the Bible. As bestselling author of The Book that Made Your World Dr Vishal Mangalwadi said on his current tour of Australia: "The Christian belief in the idea of logos, or the rational word, laid the foundations of modern Western civilisation... Christianity shaped the West into a thinking, humane, optimistic, just and moral civilisation. It also inspired a search for truth - facilitating scientific, technological and economic success. Australia does not need to go into decline. There is hope for renewal if we return to biblical values: upholding marriage, protecting life and preserving freedom."
|Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi|
The Canberra Declaration and the team at the Australian Christian Values Institute believe Australia should heed the words of Vishal Mangalwadi. The issue of marriage is of extreme importance to our culture. That is why the Christian Values Checklist has highlighted the moral vacuum now found in the Labor Party under the leadership of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd by giving the Labor section in the Checklist a reduced font size on the question of 'protecting marriage by rejecting homosexual marriage'. Kevin Rudd is doing the exact opposite to what the Bible says. He has betrayed his own Christian convictions and the reality of the word of God to push for homosexual marriage within the first 100 days of his new government should he be re-elected. Marriage redefined will be marriage destroyed.
We encourage voters to do their own research and attend the Make it Count event on Monday 1 September organised by the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) to further assess the different parties' policies. Make sure you then evaluate your own local candidates and check out the websites of FamilyVoice Australia, Saltshakers , ACL and the ACVI. Please make a prayerful choice on polling day 7 September 2013.
We ask you to pass this important information on to your friends and church networks.
Yours for Christian Values
