The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is working with federal partners to determine the scale of impact the pause in federal grants, loans and financial assistance programs will have on the department’s operations.
Currently, 79% of NCDHHS’ $40 billion budget comes from the federal government and provides for critical services that impact some of the state’s most vulnerable people. This includes vital programs that ensure individuals, children and families receive necessary resources so they can thrive in their communities.
The focus right now is to get a comprehensive and accurate accounting of what is impacted, communicate with our stakeholders, partners and community leaders so they have the information they need to respond and understand what levers we have, if any, to ensure North Carolinians continue to receive the programs and services they rely on.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
