On Sunday, May 24 from 10am to noon, bring the whole family and join PJ Library® at Temple B'nai Tikvah for a Shavuot Sundae Sunday celebration! We will have a fun morning of stories, songs, crafts, and an ice cream sundae bar! Register for free and celebrate the joyful holiday of Shavuot - which happens to have a strong association with ice cream! This program will take place outdoors, on the field across from Temple B'nai Tikvah, so please dress for the weather!

Our Holocaust and Human Rights: Remembrance and Education department has been very busy over the past month. Our annual community Yom HaShoah commemoration was held at the Paperny Family JCC and Beth Tzedec Congregation. A wonderful event with author Bonny Reichert about her powerful memoir, "How to Share an Egg: A True Story of Hunger, Love, and Plenty" was well attended at the Calgary Central Library. In coordination with the Consulate General of Israel, we honoured the remarkable lifesaving efforts of Pietertje, Willem, and Jacob Tensen at Temple Bnai Tikvah with a private Righteous Among the Nations ceremony.

Finally, from May 4 to 15, our annual Holocaust Education Symposium was held at the Calgary Central Library. Over 2,400 high school students experienced interactive keynote presentations on the Holocaust and antisemitism by Dr. George Dalbo and Logan Greene, listened to the testimonies from survivors and their descendants, and toured the One Thread, Six Million Lives exhibit. We are grateful to Holocaust and Human Rights: Remembrance and Education Coordinator Amy Glassman-Boiko, our partner organizations and hosts, volunteers, educators, and donors who continue to make these meaningful programs possible.

Join us for a multicultural choral concert on Monday, June 1, at 7pm at Temple B'nai Tikvah. Choirs of the World will be an unforgettable evening of choral music featuring a variety of styles – from Latin American rhythms, rock 'n' roll, to Canadian favourites, and more! The Paperny Family JCC Voices Adult Choir, together with other local choirs (Cantaré Latin Choir, Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School Choir, Big Rock Singers, and Yodel Club Heimattreu Choir) will take the stage to share their passion and talent in a celebration of music, across cultures and generations. Register for this free concert. Donations will support arts and community building programs.

Did You Know? That Calgary Jewish Federation is part of a larger network of organizations: Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). JFNA brings together and empowers Jewish communities across North America to build a strong, connected, and vibrant Jewish future. We are just one of the 141 Jewish Federations in North America! JFNA has a long history, beginning with the United Jewish Appeal in the early 1940s, becoming the United Jewish Communities in 1999, and then changing their name to JFNA in 2009. By being part of the broader network of Federations, we are able to maintain and strengthen our connection to the global Jewish community. Our membership is our seat at the table. It's how we share knowledge and support each other. JFNA is the glue that bonds Jewish communities globally, connecting individuals and groups to each other, Israel, and over 70 countries worldwide …That's Federation.
