A warm welcome and b’hatzlacha to Roxanne Droppo, who begins asthe new executive director of Jewish Family Service Calgary on November 20. She is replacing Marty Hornstein, who is retiring. Roxanne brings with her more than 30 years of not-for-profit and for-profit experience in multiple areas that align with JFSC’s programs and services.
Glowing reviews and comments attest to the captivating life story of Dr. Bernd Wollshlaeger. He shared his very personal narrative and positive, hopeful message with a rapt audience of nearly 400 people at this fundraising event to support Federation's Holocaust Education initiatives. “The Power of Words” was the topic explored in a panel discussion among representatives of the Muslim, Jewish, LGBTQ and First Nations Communities hosted by Engineers without Borders and the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre at the University of Calgary. Federation’s Judy Shapiro spoke about the impact of hate speech on the Jewish community.
